Just in case I’ve never officially told you, I have the best job in the world as a newborn photographer. I mean, HONESTLY. I spend hour upon hour tucking precious bundles into weathered baskets and gauzy blankets and then watch while the purest love flows between the smiles and embraces of their families. It’s kind of awesome.
I love the moments when I look into my lens and just know that we’ve struck gold…the stars have aligned and the memories captured take my breath away before I’ve even had a chance to perfect them. Baby Graham’s Plano newborn photo session was exactly that kind of dream come true.
The connection between a mother and her baby is a tangible thing that I absolutely ADORE capturing in a portrait. When this radiant mama held her angel, the bond between them immediately took center stage. She literally glows in this picture…her love for that baby lighting up everything around them. It’s always an honor when a family chooses me to capture the big stuff like this. Being entrusted with these memories – the ones that you’ll cherish for the rest of your life – pushes me to always work harder, keep learning and give you the very best of my ability. The purity of the love in this moment between these two is why I do what I do.
THIS. BABY. I’m almost without words over this little one and her endless supply of tiny smirks and turned up grins. She has officially taken the title of “Smiliest Newborn” that I’ve ever photographed and it’s hard to imagine anyone taking her crown! She is all pale-pink-ethereal-happiness (that’s totally a thing) and it was an absolute joy to be her newborn photographer. The family has plans to hang 20×30 framed prints of both beautiful daughters side by side in their home, nestled in rustic whitewashed frames.
Let me share a little secret now, friends…occasionally things go wrong during a scheduled photo session. Are you SUPER shocked?! How could something POSSIBLY go awry that involves newborn babies and young siblings? Ahem. Okay, so maybe secret is the wrong word, but best laid plans definitely get messed up and you just never know.
I’m a mama. I get this.
It’s very important to me that I not overbook my schedule because life just happens. These precious sisters almost didn’t have this moment together, thanks to big sister having a bad day that turned out to be a sinus infection. Luckily, I had the flexibility to try sibling poses again a few days later – resulting in gorgeous photos that ended up being everything they wanted. I can’t always fix the inevitable mini-disasters that life throws at us, but your experience and satisfaction are my utmost concern. I’ll always try in any way I can to give you the portraits that you’ve dreamt of.
After the Session
One of my most frequently asked questions is what happens when a stunning shoot like Graham’s is over and the images are edited? What’s next? I’ll give you a sneak peek at what this family saw at their next visit – The Reveal Session.
SOOOOO, let’s just stop here for a minute. I think we should all take a collective deep breath and tell the truth. Raise your hand if you have professional pictures sitting on a disc somewhere that were never printed. DON’T LIE, y’all. The desk in your home office? Tucked into a file cabinet? Or maybe…gasp…A JUNK DRAWER? Well, since we are being candid, MY HAND is raised, too. And I’m the professional!
I’m proud to be a Full Service Photographer in the DFW Metroplex – which means that you are able to rely on me for much more than a disc of edited images in the mail. One to two weeks after your photo shoot, we invite you back for the Reveal Session. You will see a slideshow of your edited images, similar to the one above. At this point, I will work with you one-on-one to decide what the heck to do with them!
Choosing which images to print, how big they should be, and what medium to use (print, canvas, metal, etc) can be an extremely overwhelming process that FREQUENTLY results in incredible portraits being relegated to that flash drive in the back of a drawer. If you sit them aside with the promise of “later”, chances are that later will never come. Not that I’m speaking from experience or anything.
I specialize in the entire process – capturing the moment, turning it into a work of art and then helping you choose how to best display your new heirlooms. Let me step in and help lead you – we can work together to quickly bring your newest memories to life in your home! If you’ve decided to invest in custom portraits to record one of your most important family milestones, I truly feel it’s my obligation to do everything that I can to make sure we’ve created your perfect memory.
Feel free to contact me with any questions regarding our full service experience – I’d love to be your Plano newborn photographer, too! Posing little angels is kind of my thing.
